Dear Me,

So you are 22 this year, and you’re still single.

Yes, it probably does not bother you much on the inside anymore, but there have still been times: moments when your eyes were locked onto another, maybe seconds when your heart would beat a little faster.

Amidst playful ribbing, you hear your friends say things like โ€œBro, chio what”. Some of them tell you, โ€œI heard sheโ€™s quite nice, try lah!โ€

On the surface you laugh it off โ€“ your close friends are such clowns โ€“ yet deep down I know you’re looking for a lot more than a pretty face. You’re looking at her heart and soul.

I’m leaving you 10 questions to ponder each time that knot in your stomach comes, and you feel the need to try and make sense of things.

  1. Does she have a personality that intrigues you?
  2. What are her dreams? Do they excite you as well?
  3. What are her fears?
  4. Can you see yourself with her for the rest of your life?
  5. Will she love you as you are, but still grow with you?
  6. Will she make a good mother?
  7. Will she be loving enough to submit to your leadership?
  8. But will she also prove to be your favourite sparring partner?
  9. Most importantly, does she love God?
  10. … More than she loves you?

Buddy, guard your heart, because not any woman will do. There will be times you have to stop yourself and say no, because that person just isn’t for you.

You deserve God’s best. But as you wait for her, ask yourself one more question:

What are you doing now, to be these ten things for her?

I wish you all the best, and I hope you’re pursuing God first. If He wills it, then that chase may just lead you to her.

Love,
Me.
