With National Day just around the corner, it’s also that time of the year when believers across the nation come together to pray for Singapore.

While the annual event by unity movement LoveSingapore usually takes place onsite, it will be held online for the second year running due to COVID-19 restrictions.

This is the first time that the Day of His Power (DOHP) will be livestreamed, as well as the first year that will see separate English (August 6, Friday) and Chinese (August 8, Sunday) events being organised.

The theme for 2021 is HOPE: Houses of Prayer Everywhere.

“This Day Of His Power, instead of many people in one venue, we will be one people in many venues.”

In a note inviting all believers to DOHP 2021, LoveSingapore Chairman Lawrence Khong said these houses of prayer across Singapore represent:

  • A picture of humility, as we come to God in brokenness and gratitude to offer ourselves as living sacrifices.
  • A picture of unity, as we come with singleness of heart to pray and seek His face.
  • A picture of family, as we come as one people and one community of faith under one Father.

“In this pandemic, joy is in short supply,” he observed.

However, Pastor Khong reminded us that God promises joy in His house of prayer (Isaiah 56:7). In His presence there is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11).

“This National Day weekend, with great joy, we shall together offer up a sacrifice of praise to God on behalf of Church and Nation,” he said.

“Your people will offer themselves willingly in the day of your power.” (Psalm 110:3)

On August 6 and 8, believers are encouraged to come together in prayer in twos or threes, within safety guidelines, among close friends or family members.

“We encourage believers of all stripes and colours, regardless of church or denomination, to gather and make your home a living sanctuary,” urged Pastor Khong.

“This Day Of His Power, instead of many people in one venue, we will be one people in many venues.”

Pray with your loved ones at the family altar. Or tune in with your cell group or circle of friends and pray together on Zoom.
