“We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!”
Most of us here have probably been mocked, very unlikely flogged and definitely never crucified. But Jesus experienced all three.
Predicting His death for the third time to His disciples only intensified the pain and suffering Jesus was about to experience. Indeed, this was a revelation which drew no sympathy from His disciples who could not accept the fact that Jesus was going to die.
And yet what seemed like total defeat would be turned into the greatest victory. Jesus was mocked, flogged and crucified – but rose from the dead on the third day. Because of Jesus’ resurrection, believers know that death is not the end – He has overcome the world!
There is nothing more powerful than Jesus. How does knowing this influence the challenges you face today?
