As our churches seek to grow in compassion and inclusion, this masterclass – led by renowned practical theologian Reverend Professor John Swinton – invites participants into a thoughtful, faith-informed exploration of mental health in persons with disabilities.

Reverend Professor John Swinton is Professor in Practical Theology and Pastoral Care and Chair in Divinity and Religious Studies at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, and Consulting Faculty at Duke Divinity School. In 2004, he founded the University of Aberdeen’s Centre for Spirituality, Health and Disability.

Before entering academia, he worked for over a decade as a mental health nurse and later served as a mental health chaplain. Professor Swinton has written and published widely on theology, dementia, disability, and mental health. His book Dementia: Living in the Memories of God received the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Michael Ramsey Prize for excellence in theological writing.
