“I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
Did you know that in some sheep pens of old, the shepherd would lie across the opening at night, so that the sheep would be safe while he slept?
But in this famous speech, Jesus doesn’t just describe Himself as the Good Shepherd — He is the gate for the sheep to enter into the fold.
Here, the gate symbolises more than just protection — it’s the passageway to salvation and fullness of life.
There are many doors in life. Some paths may seem attractive but lead us further away from God.
What are you chasing? What road is it bringing you on?
Remember that only a life lived in and with Christ is one that will truly satisfy.
