With a virtual choir of more than 30 people from 11 churches in 3 countries, singer-songwriter Joshua Poh’s latest track has brought people together in a time of social distancing. 

“This song holds a very special place in my heart,” the 30-year-old shared. “It is a song forged in the fires of my personal journey with God.”

Joshua revealed that he went through a painful and regretful experience which caused him to drop everything 2 years ago.

“My life came to a standstill,” he recalled. “It came to a point where I would spend hours on end in a room crying out to God to hear me, to help me.”

Psalm 91 reaffirms the comfort, assurance and deliverance that comes with loving God.

In that dark time, Psalms became the book he found comfort in, and the strength to carry on.

“Psalm 91 is one of my favourite psalms of all time,” Joshua said. “It reaffirms the comfort of being in God (Psalm 91:1-2), the assurances of trusting in Him (Psalm 91:3-8) and the deliverance that comes with loving Him (Psalm 91:9-13).”

While Joshua had no intentions to record the song, many of his friends were encouraged by the message and asked him to record it after hearing the rough draft. So the efforts grew and culminated in the virtual choir.

Joshua also collaborated with Isaac Ong for the latter’s message in the music video.

“Psalm 91 is a psalm of the secret place,” began Isaac Ong. “And I feel this year is a call and an invitation for greater alignment and intimacy with the Lord – to stay in the secret place.”

He continued: “We started off the year perhaps with a 20/20 vision for the year 2020. But so much has changed and so much has been disrupted.

“Maybe the Lord is pulling us back a little to say, ‘Wait, before you have a 20/20 vision for your own lives, would you have a clear 20/20 vision of My heart?

“Do you know what I am doing and how I am discipling the nation and the nations?’”

Sharing from 2 Kings 4:8 where the Shunammite woman provided Elisha with meals every time he passed by, Isaac pointed out that she eventually wasn’t “cool with just having a meal with him” and started to invite Elisha to rest and to stay.

Then signs and wonders began to happen in her household.

“Miracles like receiving a son, to the son passing away and then being brought back to life… it all began at the point where the Shunnamite woman said: ‘I’m not cool for just a visitation anymore.’”

Isaac then challenged the viewer to hunger for God’s presence like the Shunnamite woman: “This period for the world may seem like confusion, but I believe it’s a point of pivoting.

“Lord, what are some things in my life You want me to begin to pivot on? What are some things You want me to change?

“Maybe I’m not cool with just a visitation. God, I want You to stay and I want to dwell. I want to go even deeper.”

Lord, will You take me deeper and help me not to miss the point.

Isaac continued: “Because after this circuit breaker is over, we cannot go back to business as usual. There is no such thing as business as usual.

“This is not a pause in the Kingdom of God. This is not a pause in discipleship. This is Him completely sovereign – still discipling. We need to come into greater alignment.”

Urging viewers to make room for God, Isaac concluded: “I pray that you will take this time to really hear the call and how God is wooing us into greater intimacy with Him.

“To read Psalm 91 and say, ‘Lord, will You take me deeper and help me not to miss the point.’”
