“Not everyone who says to me, โLord, Lord,โ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, โLord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?โ Then I will tell them plainly, โI never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!โ”
The scariest part here, is that the ones listening to these words “on that day” are people who thought they had been serving Him.
Is there anything more horrifying than to devote decades of your life to “Jesus”, only to find out you were actually serving idols like ambition, greed and pride โ and to then be turned away from the Kingdom of Heaven?
What these verses teach us is that there is a difference between empty works, and earnestly doing the will of the Father.
Consider all that we are doing in Jesus’ name… would He know us? And do we know the real Jesus?
